Pack 1015 hosts a wide range of events throughout the Scouting year, designed to give scouts fun, educational, and memorable experiences. While many events are annual traditions, not every activity happens every year, and our Pack Hikes are listed separately.
Below, you’ll find our events displayed in the approximate order they occur from August through July. Be sure to check the Pack Calendar for exact dates—there’s always something fun to look forward to
Scouting Information Night
Curious about Cub Scouting? Come to our Scouting Information Night to learn what Pack 1015 is all about, meet leaders, and find out how you and your scout can get involved.
Welcome Back BBQ
Kick off the Scouting year with our Welcome Back BBQ! Enjoy food, fun, a water balloon toss, and sack races, and most importantly, reconnect with fellow scouts and families as we start another exciting year.
Coastal Cleanup
Join Pack 1015 for our Coastal Cleanup event and help keep Alameda beaches beautiful! Scouts and families will pitch in to remove trash, protect local wildlife, and make a visible difference in our community.
Overnight on the Balclutha
Our Age of Sail program brings maritime history to life at the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park. Scouts experience life aboard a historic working ship, gaining hands-on lessons in teamwork, problem-solving, leadership, and self-reliance—all while learning local and state history in a fun, memorable way. Click here to learn more about this great program.
Scout Olympics
Test your skills and have a blast at the Scout Olympics! Events include paper airplane tosses, ping pong relay races, water balloon challenges, and other fun activities for scouts of all ages.
Santa Cruz Boardwalk Overnight
Camp on the boardwalk, play games, and ride the rides—this event is a highlight for many scouts! Enjoy camping under the stars and under the rides, exclusive free play in the arcade, dinner and breakfast, an outdoor movie, and special time on the Looff Carousel on Friday. Don’t miss the sand sculpture competition too! For more information, visit the Beach Boardwalk website.
Halloween Trash Pickup
Halloween is a fun time for costumes and candy, but it also generates a lot of trash. Pack 1015 helps keep our community clean by taking responsibility for the waste the holiday creates.
Holiday Caroling
Giving back is a key part of Cub Scouting. Each year, our Pack carols at a local Alameda nursing home, spreading holiday cheer. Families are welcome to join! We’ll warm up outside, then sing in the foyer and halls so all residents can enjoy. Afterward, we’ll gather for cookies and cocoa.
Rain Gutter Regatta
Build a sailboat and race it against your troop-mates in the Rain Gutter Regatta! This event is all about fun and teamwork, with a more relaxed vibe than the Pinewood Derby.
Board Games and Pizza Nights
These game nights happen a few times each year and are a fun chance for scouts and families to come together outside of regular meetings. Depending on the season and weather, they’re held at a local park, the school MPR, or the Elk’s Lodge. It’s BYOG—Bring Your Own Game—so everyone can share their favorites, and pizza is always provided. From time to time, we also host a board game swap, giving scouts a chance to trade and discover something new.
Cake Boss
Our annual cake fundraiser is key to supporting Pack 1015’s program, and we encourage all families to join in—by baking, decorating, or purchasing cakes. It’s a fun way to raise funds and gives scouts a chance to try something new and creative.
Winter Lodge
Winter Lodge is one of the highlights of the Scouting year! Pack 1015 spends three days and two nights at Camp Richardson right on the shore of Lake Tahoe, with the whole camp reserved just for us. Families enjoy bingo, skits, pizza, hot chocolate, board games, and —when the weather cooperates— lots of snow play. It’s a weekend of fun, fellowship, and unforgettable memories.
Pinewood Derby
Get ready for some thrilling racing action! Well… first, we have to open the box and build the car. This event is serious business—sometimes the difference between first place and just having fun is a fraction of a second. Along with Blue and Gold, this is one of Pack 1015’s quintessential Cub Scout experiences!
Blue and Gold Banquet
The Blue and Gold Banquet is a cherished Cub Scout tradition that celebrates both Scouting’s anniversary and the achievements of our scouts. Families gather to share food, fun, and fellowship while reflecting on the growth and accomplishments of the past year.
A highlight of the evening is the Arrow of Light Ceremony, where Webelos 2 scouts are honored as they graduate from Cub Scouts and prepare to join a Scout troop. It’s a special night to recognize their journey so far and look forward to the adventures ahead.
Scout Day at the Game
Put on your uniform and join your fellow scouts and families for an unforgettable day of sports and Scouting spirit! Whether it’s stepping onto the field at an Oakland A’s or Ballers game, cheering on the Golden State Warriors, or experiencing the excitement of an Oakland Roots match, scouts will be recognized and celebrated while enjoying the thrill of the game together.
Overnight at the Hornet
Climb aboard the historic USS Hornet, a floating museum full of adventure! Scouts and families will get the chance to explore the ship from top to bottom, learn fascinating stories from knowledgeable docents, and experience life as a sailor by sleeping in the original crew bunks. It’s a one-of-a-kind, hands-on journey through history that you’ll never forget.
Troop Camping Trip
Our Troop Camping Trip brings scouts from across the troop together to experience nature, build friendships, and practice outdoor skills. We typically camp at multiple sites at China Camp for a fun-filled adventure.
